The scene of Stage Harbor, Chatham,
Massachusetts showing the arrival of on of the several schooners
which hailed from there, is a scene which took place in hundreds
of small New England ports during the 19th century. The trip
may have been to New York, taking salted fish and fish oil to
the city and returning with flour, cornmeal, perhaps some lead,
canvas and cloth and various sundries.
